Prompts: Continue, Critical, &Priceless

For those surviving aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and overseas hurricane, I wrote a little something after hearing Coldplay’s Houston #1 on the radio. I just finished it today. This is my third day back home. My area didn’t have any major damages or floods compared to others around here. I thank God for that and will continue to pray for those who have so much to do in order to move on from this.

In this Critcal moment, people have lost mant things. Precious Priceless things. It is also sad to know during this fearful moment, many had to worry about looters. My area, like many, is still under curfew.

As we Continue with the aftermath of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Harvey, please take the time to read my poem. Coldplay wrote a song in Miami, Houston #1. The song inspired this poem. To listen to their song, search online search engines or Youtube.

I used to complain about the sun,

So hot, so blinding.

Rain was something that just happens.

The water so serene;

Plague of death and dismay.

Floods, food shortage, electricity outage,

Loss of homes, loss of lives

All in books, all on news.

Didn’t feel real til I was near.

Opened my eyes;

Opened my heart;

Brain’s on wire;

How can I help?

Treacherous, dangerous,

But never chainless.

As the sun rises,

The water dries,

The memories remain.

Harvey stole materials,

But never the hearts of Texas.

Enemies, friends,

Strangers, acquaintances,

Formed a bond, united as one

Helping those in need.

Damage is done.

But Harvey has not won.

Prompt: Cringe+Review: Tarte Pout Prep

Hi everyone. Happy Sunday!

My lips tend to dry out quickly. Not even exfoliators could help them. Few months ago, I noticed Fresh Tinted Lip Treatments helped moisturize my lips longer. But those around $24. And if their tinted, I want more shades. But I don’t want to spend that much on a lip balm.

Exfoliators are supposed to help with prepping your lips and I heard it also helps a little with the drying out. I’ve tried so many. From Dior’s expensive Lip Sugar to the cheapest I’ve heard so far E.L.F.’s in their lipstick package. I even tried making my own.

In between those two, I tried Fresh’s Lip Polish and its new wand type. I didn’t like the wand one as much for exfoliating, but it gave a nice glossy finish to my lips. As for the original Lip Polish, it was alright giving it a second try. Back in college I never liked it. Trying a sample again,  it’s ok. I think I’m not into brown sugar for exfoliating though. And I wanted more in an exfoliator.

GlamGlow’s lip scrub was nice and felt similar to Milani’s. However, I Cringe[d] with the taste in my mouth when little pieces found its way inside (YUCK!). I couldn’t tolerate it. Plus, there was something missing in it.

Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea Lip Scrub in a pencil/marker packaging was cool to try. But it got really messy. And it didn’t seem to be working on my lips.

Bite Beauty’s both original lip scrub and Agave. Their whipped one was interesting to try. It applied on my lips without any sugar texture- just creamy. I didn’t think it did the job and don’t understand how it’s meant to exfoliate without the granules.

Agave was better than the original. But I couldn’t stand the smell. Is that just me??? Plus, I’m not into brown sugar scrubs (mainly for its smell).

Lush’s homemade lip scrubs that are delicious! They are popular, but I’m not into the dry texture. Plus, I wanted my lips to be conditioned. They just felt dried…. But it tasted so good (especially Popcorn)!

Milani Sweet Sugar Scrub was so sweet and was like putting a really nice desert on my lips. But let’s face it, it just wasn’t for my tastebuds.

E.L.F’s $3 lip scrub in a lipstick packaging is amazing. But breaks off when I use it. And it’s also missing something. But I’d use it if I didn’t keep breaking them.

Now, I’m sure I’m missing some others I have tried. But before this gets any longer, let me introduce to you the exfoliator I have tried and found I love more than all these.

Tarte has come out with another exfoliator called Pout Prep. I tried locating YouTube videos and haven’t found much on it. It retails for $16 and only has two reviews with ratings of 4-5 stars.

I ordered mine with a 15% off discount as a first time customer on their website. I am not new to their company. I’ve been buying their products from Sephora and Ulta.

Pout Prep is a “minty lip scrub and treatment Balm with moisturizing maracuja, shea butter, and exfoliating sugar to gently buff away flakes and treat thirsty lips.”

Both maracuja and shea butter sink deeply into lips to hydrate, firm, and protect from future drying, cracking, and/or chapping.

This product has vitamins C and E, Sunflower Seed Oil, and Carnauba Wax. If you’re not into wax in lip products, this may not be for you as it does contain wax.

When reading about this product, I thought of the $33 Dior Lip Sugar.

This product is designed with concentrated granita texture that gently transforms into a balm as it melts on lips. Both products consider themselves as a balm.

Are these similar? Perhaps in how their designed to be used. But the textures are completely different. You apply Dior’s like a lip balm and the sugar immediately melts onto your lips. Pout Prep’s sugar doesn’t immediately melt away. And you can remove by rinsing it.

I find when using Pout Prep first time, the sugar did melt onto my lips creating a balm like texture. But other times I’d have to rinse it off.

What is/are your favorite exfoliators?

Pesky Lil Lovebugs!

Mom and I were visiting cemetery today to see Dad, Grandma, and Grandpa. It rained harder here than it did in our area. So we didn’t expect much water on the ground.

Standing there, visiting Dad first, love bugs were flying around. It wouldn’t leave me alone. One flew on my face twice. Mom said Dad told the bug to give me kisses. I’m one of those who brushes bugs away. I kind of shiver and jump a little when bugs come near me or on me. I did fine when it came near me. But on me is when I flinched.

Anyways, we said our goodbyes and Happy Easter to him then walked to our car. Apparently, those love bugs decided they weren’t done with us and decided to follow us.

After I got into the car, I noticed the bugs on my front glass crawling around. Then, I noticed them on my side glass and even on my side mirror. Mom left the door open longer to get in. One flew in from her side while others stayed on glass near her.

I didn’t see any on other cars parked. I drove off with the bugs not wanting to budge. We parked near the entrance and mom went to stop at grandma and grandpa’s graves. I was a bit Cranky about the bugs and in sandal not wanting to walk through all the water. Plus, I’m still getting over my allergies that gave me a bad cough.

While sitting there waiting, more bugs showed up. I only took one picture of the two bugs on my window side. Sometimes there would be three. There were a few on my front glass but I set off the water and wipers to make them fly away.

Mom came back and we drove off. I noticed one little bug stayed on my side of the window. Driving on the freeway, I opened my window a little, then closed it quickly hoping none invites themselves in.

Right after doing this, I saw this stubborn little bug holding onto my window for dear life with its two legs, while the rest of it was blowing away. I opened and closed my window a few more times before getting on the highway and saw it finally blew off. I wish I could have taken a picture of it holding onto my window. That bug just didn’t want to get off my window. It was funny eyeing it while driving.

After getting on highway, no more Lovebugs stayed on my car or followed it.

Happy Easter to all!

Prompts: Measure/Timely/Pleased/Blindly/Unravel

So, I noticed the past three days prompts are: Measure (today’s), Timely (yesterday’s), and Pleased (April 12th). Seeing this, this morning I thought of using as many previous prompts as I can in one blog post.

Yesterday, I was excited to receive a package of three lipsticks I had ordered from Rani Cosmetics. I had ordered them on April 9th. Being a new makeup company that just opened their site on April 8th, I am Pleased that I had received this order in a Timely Measure.

Because these lipsticks can only be ordered online, I had Blindly ordered shades I thought may be in my comfort zone. Yesterday, I Unravel[ed] the gorgeous foiled envelope to Cusp shades of royalty. Will it make me look like a Champion? Perhaps not. But receiving the package Heal[ed] my Tenacious waiting self.

Rani Cosmetics is owned by Eshani Patel (AKA Youtube’s TotalMakeupJunkie101. Eshani reviews makeup. She started her own company, which opened six days ago. For her first launch she is selling six lipsticks. However, she plans on launching more makeup.

These lipstick shades are shimmered and designed to flatter all skin types. She named her company Rani because it means Queen in Hindi. She wants everyone to feel like royalty when wearing their makeup. Everyone deserves to feel confident. That is her motto behind her company.

Her first lipstick line is called Sparked Dazzling Lipstick. These lipsticks reminded her of fireworks in the night sky. Her lipsticks are priced at $18. They are both cruelty free and vegan friendly. They are made in the US. The price is a bit high. But the ingredients in these are not designed cheap. Neither are their packaging.

Eshani took the time to design the packaging and bullet for each lipsticks. All six lipsticks are packaged in a nice holographic box with pink foiled Rani Cosmetics inscribed. Also, Sparked Dazzling Lipstick and the ingredients are listed. On the top of the packaging, there is a nice looking foiled-feather and on the bottom is a sticker shaded similar to the lipstick shade along with its name.

Each bullet is designed similar to the NARS packaging, except without the rubber feeling. Her lipstick bullets are white. NARS packaging can get dirty even when it’s a black bullet. Eshani’s white bullet hasn’t dirtied since I started using it. These are really beautifully thought of and made. Each lipstick has its own scent. The scent is subtle.

Lipstick shades:

Tattoo is the only nude in this collection.

A universal, pinky-nude base laced with pink shimmer. Infused with a subtle caramel cream scent.

Latte is one of the three I had purchased. It seems more of a daily wear for me. To me, the shimmer in this one is less noticeable compared to the other two I had purchased. The main reason I purchased this is because of its scent Chai Latte. Also, I thought this one would be flattering as a daily wear.

A sultry, chocolate brown base laced with subtle violet and blue reflects. Infused with a subtle chai latte scent.

This is another one I had purchased. I purchased this one wanting to try and see if I like this red shade on myself. I feel like this one has a bit more shimmer showing than Latte. The intensity of this color if worn at its full pigmentation, I feel is more for special events than a daily wear. However, if applied thinly and left sheer, it can be a nice everyday wear.

A classic, medium-red base laced with gold and pink shimmer. Infused with a subtle strawberries & cream scent.

A true, fuchsia-pink base laced with gold and pink shimmer. Infused with a subtle rose scent.

Lassi is a mango smoothie. I love mango and the scent of mango; so, I decided to purchase this one. I feel it is a nice shade to wear for special events at its full pigmentation. However, applied sheer, could look good for an everyday wear.

A vibrant, red-orange base laced with gold and pink shimmer. Infused with a subtle mango scent.

Eclipse is a dark purple vampy color. I really like the name of it. In Eshani’s one video talking about her company, she is wearing this shade.

A vampy, dark purple base laced with pink shimmer. Infused with a subtle coconut scent.

All of our lipstick colors were specifically created to flatter any and every skin color, so don’t be afraid to try something a little bit out of your comfort zone!

On Rani Cosmetics, you can purchase all six shades for $99. Purchased individually, total price would be $108. This saves you $9. Rani Cosmetics ships outside of US; however, shipping prices may vary. For US free shipping over $50 and International shipping free over $125.

I have been wearing Latte all day today, and I am enjoying it. It feels moisturizing on my lips. I don’t feel Latte’s shimmer when pressing my lips together. I like that because I am not someone used to wearing shimmer lipsticks. The griny texture would be uncomfortable for me if I had to feel it overtime I press my lips together.

On Rani Cosmetics, they instruct your lips to exfoliate and moisturize before applying the lipsticks. And for sheer wash of color to apply a thin layer. Add more for full pigmentation.
