2018 New Year’s Resolutions:

Hey everyone, how are you?

Throughout this year and previous years, I have been struggling with keeping blogs. One thing I hope for next year is that blogging becomes a habit for me or something I, at least don’t give up on.

November is ending soon and Christmas will soon be here. Another year will come to an end; another chapter book closed; a new one to open.

Usually at this time, people begin to think of things they want done or to do next year. Goals that either get swept under the rug or try-fail-succeed. A list easy to create; yet, not-so-easy to accomplish.

I, like them, have created this list time and time again. I, like some, have failed tremendously. I, like the few, have swept them under the rug. A list once made forgotten as the new year unfolds.

Every year when I make this list, I always write the same things- lose 30 lbs, read one book a month, write more, pray more, etc, etc. To me, it’s never heartfelt; rather, it’s everyone’s making this list, why not I? Then, I sit down to make it only to find an empty brain.

My stupid brain voided of all the things I can accomplish next year. My brain should be on cruise control. It should be ecstatic by now. A year is coming to an end! A new beginning is underway! But no, it’s not.

In fact, my brain is running the complete opposite right now. It’s dragging. Time’s ticking rather slowly with me on sleep mode. And so, I watched YouTube videos to hype my brain of the new year that’s coming (whether or not my brain’s intent).

And now, here is my

Reading Challenge

Hello everyone. I have challenged myself to read once a month for every new year since three to four years ago. Every year I failed. Last year I tried more than any other year, yet, still failed. I said the same thing again for this year and have failed to finish a book last month. January I finished one because it was a book already started around December or November last year. It was the Second book of A Wrinkle In Time series. I had three part trilogy book I split into three. When I finished one I considered it that book finished. If that makes sense.

I have so many books here I could read. I want to get back into the habit of reading- not just that, but finishing them. I start books after books and never see the last page. Few years later, I try again either from page one or where I left off (depending if I remember the story).

It took me three years to finish reading Jeremy Camp’s “I Still Believe” and that’s not a very long book.

I have started reading Oliver Twist, Jesus: A Pilgrimage, a book of America (don’t remember the title), Of Mice and Men (I read in high school for a class and reading again), and a long book called Watership Down.

I cannot seem to finish any book. Even if I tell myself I have 30 days to finish this one book. If I read this many pages, I should finish within 30 days. Nope, I still start another book!

All you book readers out there, how do you keep to one book until it’s finished. I know a lot of you might read two books at a time. How do you manage to finish them and not start another?

Have a good day!

Prompt: Fragile

Fragile

There once was a girl named Seraphina Rose. At her school, her name was unique compared to those. And so, Seraphina was picked on by many.

A bright and beautiful girl with lips as pure as rose. Her mind shudder as the day goes. Nights she cried and mornings she tried, but fragile still showed.

A once little girl who wore her heart on her sleeve, little did she believe her life would come to this. Burst of tears; worries and fears; her heart broken in two waiting for tomorrow. A fragile soul hoping tomorrow would be better. But the zombie life she lives still tomorrow she drives.

Prompt: Perplexed

Perplexed
Looking at her friend, Anne felt perplexed at the sight of her face, full of shock and horror. Asking her questions to relieve the anxiety in me, every bone in my body began to shake tremendously with the words coming out of her cold mouth.

All She could do is think, How? Why? Unanswered questions poured as she noticed her smirking, as if to hide a smile and a laughter- one of those evil laughters that are supposedly cool, but really isn’t.

Hearing and eyeing her left every trace of honesty puzzling Anne. Why did it have to be me? Why did she have to go and spill the beans to me? Speechless and perplexed she tried to move, but no aching part would let out a motion.

She walked towards Anne like it meant nothing. Her words, dark and full of laughter. Who is she? Those words spun in Anne’s head as she searched for descriptive words to satisfy it.

Her hands were full of what Anne hoped was ketchup sauce. Yes, ketchup sauce. That’s what they used to use in movies, right? The air reeked of death. Who’s, She didn’t know. Anne trembled still knowing her friend could do such a thing.

Why Do I Do It?

Why do I start the things I know I will never finish?

Why do I apply for something I know I haven’t got the heart for? Something I tried two times before and failed.

So, I signed up for selling Avon. Many of you don’t know I have signed up twice in the past. That’s why I don’t want to tell my family and friends. I don’t want to mention it to other coworkers I used to work with either. I can’t tell anyone at the school I work now because they say no personal work allowed. We signed off on it.

So, I’m stuck. My mind is thinking just fill the campaign brochures and “accidentally leave them around where you go”. Maybe someone will look at it, maybe not. Maybe it’ll be thrown away. Maybe it’ll be popped into a bag who’s owner will take it home and browse through it. Maybe someone would call. All these maybes and nothing to motivate me or scream at me, “Do it. Dooo iiiittttt.” I don’t remember where that line was from but I know I have heard it before somewhere. Was it Hannah Montana? I think it was Lily saying it to Miley. But I can’t figure out the episode. Flashback to that show.

Not only am I talking about Avon, but also my crocheting projects. I tried making flowers wanting to connect them. Nope, that quickly went down the drain. I also told myself I want to sell blankets on eBay. Im not making many to sell on it. It’s just a goal that’s staring me down, but when I reach out for it, I get distracted, tired and sleepy, or too lazy to do anything for the goal.

Just like yesterday I brought a book downstairs to read. I knew I was exhausted but I still told myself I’ll read anyways. Took the book downstairs and never even opened a page.

Same goes for writing. I used to write a lot. Everyday, any day. Now, I have no desire in me for daily writing. I lost that part of me. When that part comes back it’s only for a minute. Once a week or so I get inspirations. But my creativeness I feel has fallen apart. And that’s what makes me me.

I haven’t been keeping up with My Trending Stories. Mainly because I can’t type post through phone. I need a laptop and I barely use my laptop because I don’t carry it wherever I go. Same for tablet of the site works on there.

On the positive side, I haven’t given up on this blog site. I only have been posting once or twice a week. Sometimes, short daily post. But at least that’s something.

I have two ideas I wanted to write. Wanted to write on MTS site, but forgot I can’t with phone. Might try and write them down today.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

At first, I wasn’t going to buy this. Then, sitting and reading it at Barnes and Noble’s Starbucks made me want it. But hey, it’s $29 for the hardcopy. I heard it was about $18 at Target. Therefore, after reading 20 pages, I left.

I went straight to Target hoping they had some left. They had tons. The book itself is sold for $17.99; however, in stores it is on sale $19 with a “free” poster as the cashier told me. The poster alone is $1.49 and is sold only at Target.

Looking at the receipt, you would think the book would be priced $17.99 and a free poster. I thought that made sense to me, since the book by itself is that price. This is all judging from what I read on the receipt. Either way, purchasing from Target saved money considering the same exact book can be bought for $26 at Barnes and Noble and the inside cover of the book selling price is $29.99. It’s a good deal.

I read today about 40 pages. Last month since I went to PA, I had not been in the mood to finish a book. Therefore, my read one book a month resolution failed for July. I hope to go back to the book I was reading that time. Currently, I think I will be focusing on this one- the 8th book of Harry Potter.

This is a special rehearsal edition script and I read somewhere at Barnes and Noble this book is only sold for sometime in stores.

The front cover looks like a bird’s nest with wings and a child looking scared inside it. The title of the novel is: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two. This is based on an original new story by JK Rowling, John Tiffany, and Jack Thorne. This book was released last month. It is about 300 some pages long.

The back of the book:

I am thinking there are many series (tv, movies, books, etc) we had to say farewell to, but Harry Potter will not be one of them. At least, not for awhile.

Bible Journaling

Who has ever thought of writing in their Bibles? Who has been scolded for it? Well, these days new Bibles are coming out encouraging, calling our creative side out. And no punishment given 😉

This morning, I stopped at Family Christian Store for Bible Journaling. They placed on the table a book with different ways to journal. Some had pictures you could color and others had lines for either drawing or writing on.

This specific store I visited, gave a variety of stickers, no-tear tapes, paint, markers, crayola pencils, etc. After explaining Bible Journaling, they let us roam our creative side. We colored. We talked. Some painted. Some stickered hearts and taped musical notes.

This event was only one hour. But it didn’t feel like one hour passed. After the event, we all sat for a little longer talking. Then, went on our ways.

I liked this event so much and hope Family Christian Store does this frequently. It gave me a chance to meet new people. The manager and one of her employees who led today’s Bible Study were so nice. The manager mentioned a little bit about Family Christian that most people don’t know. She also mentioned her mission trip to Haiti and meeting the children there.

There were only five in our group- a rather small group. But that gave us a chance to talk and express ourselves. A lady that sat beside me, I talked to her before we sat down at the table, she helped me find an Inspired Bible Journaling book. We thought they ran out of those, but she found a few in another area. This same lady also gave me a name to locate online that does Bible Study because I struggle with reading the Bible at times, she thought it would be helpful. I have thought of doing Bible Study. So, that is something I will look into!

So for all those hiding their creative side in their Bibles. Forget all the rules and express yourself! It’s a fun way to relax, meditate, and focus. While doing all three you are also praying, too. It’s like singing, twice you pray! Right? And… you don’t get punished for it 😛
