Bugs and Pest

So after dad died, my mom has been listening to a lot of family and neighbors talking about how they don’t pay a bug company to spray their yards, they, instead, spray their own. Apparently, they had Luck (daily prompt :P) on their side if they have no bug issues. As for us, mom finally decided to call someone. The same guy who came previous years is working in another company that’s cheaper she called.

After one year of not having our yard and house sprayed, we get fire ant piles outside and fire ants indoors and a wasp nest, which none of us knew about. He also found a baby snake that was poisonous on the side of our backyard. We do live near water, so snakes are expected to crawl at times in yards. My mom and dad have seen them before.

To me, knowing snakes can be in yards scares me so much to not sit on the grass outside or even sit on the couch that mom and dad placed in the back porch. Mom and dad once found a snake under there, too. It was a big one they said.

Mom thought the guy would kill the snake. I knew he wouldn’t. He said he would let it go somewhere else. I wonder where the adult snakes are. If their baby snake was crawling around here, then they should be somewhere around, too. Hopefully, the adult ones are nowhere near our house.

Anyways, Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

  1. Snakes! Eeesshh. I almost stepped on a baby rattler one year when they came into town due to some flooding of their desert-like haunts. Enjoyed your story this morning. 🙂

    1. Thanks. Once back at PA home I ran through my garage in the evening with shoes on and stepped on something rubbery. I ended up catching my balance and when I turned around there was a snake (I heard it was a baby one but it was bigger than the one I saw in the bug sprayer’s hand). I was scared. It looked like it was hurt, but wasn’t sure. It literally slithered itself under our lawn mower in the garage. I ran to our door calling my Dad. I don’t remember if he had found the snake or what happened.
