Waves crash around us taking us under. For one final second we breathe what could be our last breath. Struggling to break free in this moonlight water, we see a light beyond the yonder. Is this heaven? Did we die? Out of nowhere, we are pulled out of the waters and into safety. We feel our breath one more time shivering under blankets and towels the men had wrapped around us. Some questioning us, but their words scatter among the heavy wind. Looking, they seem to be yelling pointing at me. We try to speak, but words fail to form. We bow our heads ashamed. Ashamed, but grateful we survived the tides of water.
Water, drink to survive. Water to nourish our body. To wash away the toxins. Water, so good, yet, so deadly. Water can save you or drown you.
